Climate

Heerhugowaard has a cool oceanic climate (Köppen climate classification Cfb), strongly influenced by its proximity to the North Sea to the west, with prevailing north-western winds and gales. Winter temperatures are cool to mild. Heerhugowaard, as well as most of North-Holland province, lies in USDA Hardiness zone 9, the northernmost such occurrence in continental Europe. Frosts mainly occur during spells of easterly or northeasterly winds from the inner European continent, from Scandinavia, Russia, or even Siberia. Even then, because Heerhugowaard is surrounded on three sides by large bodies of water, as well as enjoying a significant heat island effect, nights rarely fall below −5 °C (23 °F). Summers are moderately warm but rarely hot. The average daily high in August is 23 °C (73.4 °F). Days with measurable precipitation are common, on average 189 days per year. Nevertheless, Heerhugowaard's average annual precipitation is only 871 millimetres (34.3 in). Most of this precipitation is in the form of protracted drizzle or light rain, making cloudy and damp days common during the cooler months of October through March. Only the occasional European windstorm brings significant rain in a short period of time, requiring it to be pumped out to higher ground or to the seas around the city.

7, Redevelopment Rivierenwijk-South

-- Natural gas-free living

-- We are going to do this

In the coming years, together with you, we will prepare the Rivierenwijk South for the future. A nice neighborhood to live in. And one that is at the forefront of natural gas-free living. We are going to do this:

Grid manager Liander strengthens the energy network of cables and pipelines to which your meter cupboard is also connected.

Energy and raw materials company HVC is constructing a heating network in part of the district as an alternative to your use of natural gas. The rental properties of housing corporation Woonwaard are first connected to the heat network.

The municipality is responsible for the construction of new drainage, so that the rainwater is drained well and you also keep your feet dry during heavy rain showers.

After all the work in the ground, the municipality ensures that the neighborhood above the ground is neatly arranged. You can think of the streets, parking spaces, footpaths, green parks, playgrounds and lampposts. The plans for this interior were devised in 2018 together with residents of the Rivierenwijk South.

District 1

-- Planning drainage

-- Heat network planning

Now that the main pipeline has been laid, we are really starting with phase 1. Work will take place from 19 August to the end of this year. That is in the immediate vicinity of Zaan, Amstel and Spui. The first house was connected to the heat network at the end of September. The Woonwaardwoningen on Zaan, Amstel and Spui will soon follow. Not only the heat network is being constructed, there are also more activities . The activities are carried out by various companies .

 11.png

  District 2

  Heat network planning

From Monday, January 6 to March 2020, HVC will install a heat pipe in the Dinkel, Spaarne and Gouwe. The area is first fenced off. Excavators then dig a trench. The soil that is released goes to the soil depot. In the trench, the heat pipes are welded together into long strands. Then sand goes into the trench and the pavement is repaired. Residents who live close to the work will receive a letter in advance with more information.

  District 3

  -- Planning drainage

The Rivierenwijk South will receive new drainage. The new system is expected to significantly reduce moisture nuisance in the district. The drainage is deeper than the pipes of the heat network. Therefore, the drainage first goes into the ground. This is followed by the construction of the heat network. Part of the drainage was already laid in district 3 in 2019. The planning for 2020 is as follows:

-- February 10 - 14: parking space at Vomar (floodplain). Here we work in small pieces to limit parking problems.

2, Polder Museum Heerhugowaard

 14.png

The Polder Museum Heerhugowaard, Het Oude Gemaal is a Dutch historical and educational museum in the North Holland town of Heerhugowaard , located in the former polder pumping station on the Huygendijk, the southern ring dike part of the West Frisian Omringdijk , where the polder Heerhugowaard is deepest (3, 90 meters below NAP ). In the north, the polder is higher (2.50 meters below NAP), so all the water drains to the only expanding pumping station.

Building history

The first part of the pumping station was built in 1877, where the polder mills used to be at the southern end of the Oostertocht. Two steam engines , together producing 120 hp and with screw pumps (augers), were installed.

From 1889 the building was enlarged and in 1907 two steam engines of 210 hp each and two centrifugal pumps were in operation. They did the same work as in 1629 the 47 mills with paddle wheel .

In 1935, the steam engines were replaced by two diesel engines .

In 1941, during wartime, two electric motors were coupled to the same pumps as the diesels. They were alternately used to pump 350 m³ of water per minute.

In 1961 the former boiler room was converted into a meeting room for the polder board. The old polder house at Vroneroord was dilapidated to continue to use.

In 1972, a start was made on automating water management in the polder. A fully automated trash rack cleaning installation was also installed behind the pumping station.

In 1979, the Heerhugowaard polder existed for 350 years and became part of the Grootgeestmerambacht Water Board. This body was later merged into the Hoogheemraadschap Hollands Noorderkwartier . In the same year, the meeting room of the former polder board was taken into use as a museum and the “Den Huygen Dijck” Foundation, which manages the Polder Museum, was established.

In 1994, the nearly hundred-year-old pumps were brought to a complete stop and the new pumping station, built diagonally behind the old polder pumping station, took over their task. The Foundation then took over the entire Water Board building on 8 September 1994.

Museum function

After taking over the building, the entire building could be used as a historical and educational museum. The old building was also completely restored and refurbished, with the pumps and electric motors remaining in place. In the historic building, the museum shows in text, image and objects, in particular, the history of the development from the former Groote Waert lake to the present-day modern polder Heerhugowaard.

On June 8, 2018, the building reopened after a major renovation and was renamed "Het Oude Gemaal" to match its history. This facility now also has a museum cafe and boat rental and the location is included in the sloops network. This in the context of the strategic reorientation of the municipality of Heerhugowaard on this industrial heritage .

The “Den Huygen Dijck” Foundation is a Public Benefit Organization ( ANBI ) with RSIN / tax number: 8038.30.646

3, Parks

The surroundings of Heerhugowaard are quite varied and beautiful. Not far from Heerhugowaard you will find several landscapes. East of the agglomeration there are different kinds of flower bulb fields. In the mid-1980s, 61 hectares of woodland were planted, the "Waarderhout". Of course you will also find much farmland in the region of Heerhugowaard.

六、历史文化

Around the year 800, the area of the modern municipality of Heerhugowaard was covered in peat fen. Because of peat-digging and storm floods many lakes developed in the region, including the Heerhugowaard. The name is derived from lord ('heer' in Dutch) Hugo van Assendelft who was killed by the West Frisians in this area in 1296. After two storms in 1248, the abbey of Egmond, which had much property in this region, built the Schagerdam at Schagen. This became part of the Westfriese Omringdijk, which protected the pentagon Schagen - Alkmaar - Medemblik - Enkhuizen - Hoorn.

Uncontrollable increase of the lake had been prevented. In the 17th century private investors decided to drain the lake to create farmland. In 1630 the polder was drained and was 39.0 km2 (15.1 sq mi), and the land was divided among the initiators. In contrast to e.g. the Beemster, the quality of the new land was very disappointing. In 1674 there was even a serious proposal to refill the polder with water, reasoning that the area would be more profitable as fishing water.

A major event in the recent history of Heerhugowaard was the unexpected victory of Princess Margriet at the first-ever held Keegelfestival of 1961. This bowling festival was an annual event until 1984, when the organising bowling club declared bankruptcy due to financial mismanagement.

七、其他信息

Building

In the course of time the population has grown. In 1960, Heerhugowaard had 6,800 inhabitants; this number became 25,000 in 1975, 47,239 in 2004 and 48,267 in 2005. In May 2007, Heerhugowaard welcomed its 50,000th inhabitant. Currently, Heerhugowaard has approximately 55,000 inhabitants. For several years in the 1970s, Heerhugowaard was the fastest growing municipality in the Netherlands. It is intended that Heerhugowaard eventually will have at least 60,000 inhabitants. The general expectation is that around 2050, Heerhugowaard will be the size of the nearby located City of Alkmaar, and will have approximately 100,000 inhabitants. There are problems with retaining the youth however, so that this number might never be reached. As young people leave their parents' homes, they prefer to move to other places such as Alkmaar or Amsterdam. The major part of the inhabitants lives in so-called Vinex-districts. The rural core of the North lies in the Middenwaard. The core of the south is at Stationsweg by the old church. In the polders there are small hamlets. The greater part of the town is new developments. The best rural core is in the villages of Centrumwaard and De Noord. Heerhugowaard has a small shopping area in Centrumwaard, and a large shopping centre in the district of Middenwaard. There is a cinema. Since 2004 there has been a coffee shop in Heerhugowaard. This coffee shop however, has met with fierce opposition from some of the local population, who have bombarded the coffee shop with stones several times. The other part realizes this establishment is there to make sure the laws are respected (e.g. no sales to 18- ) and to make sure there is no cross pollination between soft and hard drugs. Heerhugowaard has a number of subdivisions which were set up the same as in Almere, for example the writer district, the tree district, the planet district, and the nature area of Butterhuizen. In two of the newest districts, called Stad van de Zon I and II (= City of the Sun I and II) the energy supplies for a considerable part comes from solar energy.
