The clothing store C&A started in 1841 with a store in Sneek. The Candy factory Leaf produces Peppermint under the name KING [nl] as well as chewing gum (Sportlife) and various other sweets. The name "KING" has nothing to do with the English word 'king'; it stands for Kwaliteit in niets geëvenaard ("Quality equaled by nothing"). Sneek also has steel, machinery and rope factories. Since 1964 there is a factory of Yoshida YKK from Kurobe. Besides that, the supermarket branch Poiesz, clothing brand Gaastra and Frisian gin called beerenburg from Weduwe Joustra are products that have their roots in Sneek.
The Ondernemend Sneek Association organizes the joint procurement of services, products and other common business needs for our members. This includes matters such as: energy, environmental and waste management, security and the like.

Waterpoort (1613)
Waterpoort in Sneek
The Waterpoort or Hoogendster Pijp is a water gate, a gate in a defensive wall that connects a city to a waterway. It is situated in Sneek, the Netherlands.
In the 15th and 16th century, a defensive wall had been built around Sneek. The city lay on the important trade route between Leeuwarden and Stavoren, from which the rich western parts of the Netherlands (now North Holland and South Holland) could be reached. To facilitate this trade, a new harbour called the "Kolk" was built to the southwest of the city and in 1613 the Waterpoort was erected to connect city and harbour. It formed part of the city walls, but when large parts of these were demolished in the early 18th century, it was decided to leave the Waterpoort intact.
The style of the gate, now the symbol of Sneek, can be described as Manierist. It is unclear who designed it, but names suggested include those of Thomas Berentsz. and Jacob Lous. Above the gate itself, which originally would have had wooden fences, is a loggia (gallery) and above that are what were the quarters of the gatekeeper. On each side is an octagonal tower. It is listed as a Rijksmonument, number 34075.

Nationaal Modelspoor Museum National Model Train Museum
The Nationaal Modelspoor Museum (in English, the National Model Railway Museum) in Sneek, located in the province of Friesland in the Netherlands, is a beautiful model railway museum. The museum is housed in the station building of Sneek, which I think is a very suitable location. Right next to the building is still a historic Kleindiesellokomotive (Locomotor) NS 323 "Sik van Snits".
The museum is very child friendly, as it also invites to play. Every system has buttons that are just waiting to be pushed. By pressing the buttons, the visitor can drive the trains themselves and thus gets the trains rolling. On the second floor the visitor will find more copies as well as some lovingly styled dioramas.

Watersports
Sneek and water go together ...Sneek is centrally located in the lake district of the province of Friesland. In the centre of town spacious berths have been created, all of which with water and electricity facilities. Near the berths there are adequate sanitation facilities. From Sneek you can follow many routes along several beautiful waterways. For sailing lessons or charter of a yacht, sailboat or sloop, Sneek is also the place to be. On this site you also find useful water sports addresses.
Water sports centre
Sneek is the water sports centre of southwest Friesland and famous for its Sneekweek in the first week of August, the biggest sailing event in the Netherlands which starts with a traditional boat parade. The Sneekweek is a must for the real fan of sailing, but people who just love fun and conviviality are also well served. It's a perfect week for young and old, because of its many pavement cafes, good music and great organisation
六、历史文化
History
Sneek was founded in the 10th century on a sandy peninsula at the crossing site of a dike with an important waterway (called the Magna Fossa in old documents). This waterway was dug when the former Middelzee silted up. The dike can still be traced in the current street pattern and street names like "Hemdijk", "Oude Dijk" and "Oosterdijk".
Sneek received several city rights in the 13th century, which became official in 1456. Sneek was now one of the eleven Frisian cities. This was also the beginning of a period of blooming trade for the city that would last until about 1550. In 1492 construction of a moat and wall around the city began. In those days Sneek was the only walled city in Friesland. The Waterpoort and the Bolwerk remain today.
Before 2011, the city was an independent municipality.
Sister city Kurobe
Since September 10, 1970, Sneek and the Japanese city Kurobe have been sister cities. In 1970, Mayor L. Rasterhoff of Sneek visited the city of Kurobe and was named an Honorary citizen. Mayor H. Terade of Kurobe made a visit to Sneek in 1972. In 2000 delegations of both cities visited each other again. The Japanese showed the citizens of Sneek a "Sneekplein" which was built in Kurobe.
