五、风景名胜,景点( attractions)
1. Saunas
In Sauna this kind of relaxation can be achieved. Sauna is one of the best and popular traditions here that you need to try during your stay in Finland. In addition to the great atmosphere, you can discover the best saunas in Iisalmi and its regions. Here we have different kind of saunas: smoke saunas and lakeside saunas from which you can choose the coziest ones. Here you can gaze upon beautiful landscapes, swim in the lakes and enjoy the Sauna by yourself or with your group. In our region, nearly every accommodation have a sauna. Ask about different sauna options from your accommodation.
Smoke sauna, “savusauna” in Finnish, has a big wood-burning stove, but unlike other types of saunas, it doesn’t have a chimney. The traditional sauna is the original Finnish sauna type. The wood is used to heat the sauna by burning it in the stove. The necessary temperature is reached by controlling the amount of fire in the stove. Nowadays, the majority of people in Finland uses the electrically heated sauna, which has been available since the 1950s. This type of sauna is efficient, safe, stylish and easy to use. There are often remote controls for an easy use and the electric heater is wall- or floor-mounted. There are heaters for different sauna sizes. This type resembles Turkish-style spa rather than a sauna, since the humidity level of the steam room is 100% and the temperature is much lower than in a traditional Finnish sauna. Infrared heating system is based on the person’s body heat rather than on the air heating. That is the reason why this type of sauna is also known as a “heat therapy room”.
For ages the sauna has been considered the very source of energy and health in Finland, and even today the average Finn finds the question of sauna’s health risks rather amusing than serious. By an old Finnish saying: an illness was to cause death if liquor, tar and sauna did not help.
Sauna has been a subject of scientific medical research for a couple of hundred years. For any healthy person the sauna bath presents no health risk but rather gives a pleasant, relaxing and refreshing experience beneficial to both body and mind. It cleanses the pores of the skin, alleviates aches and pains and helps many people sleep more soundly. The golden rule with the sauna is the feeling of comfort: you can go to the sauna as often as you wish, stay there as long as you wish and repeat the hot-cold cycle as many times as you wish so long as it feels comfortable. Beginners may start with a recommended procedure until they learn the way they enjoy the sauna best.

六、历史文化
1.历史
Iisalmi traces its roots back to 1627, when the parish of Iisalmi was formed around the local church. In the 18th century, when Finland was under Swedish control, Sweden was frequently at war with Imperial Russia, and the area of Koljonvirta in Iisalmi was a battlefield on which one of the greatest Swedish victories occurred. However, Sweden lost its last war with Russia and had to surrender Finland to the Russian Empire in 1809. Iisalmi gained its status as town in 1891.
The area has been inhabited since the 16th century and the commercial center of Pohjois-Savo was planned for the region as early as the 18th century (it was not realized until 1856). Iisalmi grew slowly. At the time the city rights were granted, there were about a thousand inhabitants and in 1959 about 6,000.
The countryside of Iisalmi was annexed to the city in the early 1970s. It has a population of 21,374 and an area of 872.20 km2, of which 763.02 km2 is land and 109.18 km² is water. The length of the coastline is 495 kilometers. The arrival of the railway in Iisalmi in 1902 was one of the decisive conditions for growth. For a long time, Iisalmi railway station was the northern terminus of several of VR's high-speed trains, because the electrified line ended there. Electrification from Iisalmi via Kontiomäki to Oulu was completed in 2006.
One of the most famous events in the history of Iisalmi is the Battle of Koljonvirta in 1808, which J.L. Runeberg portrays Lieutenant Stool in his stories. The most dramatic moment in the city's recent history is the accident known as the Putkola bang, in which the Putkola department store in the center of Iisalmi was destroyed after the explosion of a paint, varnish and gas cylinder warehouse on 14 September 1965. The Iisalmi Armed Depot of the Defense Forces (IisAseV, formerly Arevarikko 9 AseV 9) operated in the Ohenmäki area of the Iisalmi Peltosalmi for decades, which was closed down at the beginning of 2003 on the basis of a defense policy report.

2. 文化体育
Currently the most famous Iisalmi-based band is a humorous country-rock orchestra Halavatun Papat. A rough translation of the name is "Damn Grandfathers". 20th-century composer Joonas Kokkonen was born here, as were singer-songwriter Jaakko Teppo and jazz pianist and composer Jarmo Savolainen.
Iisalmi, even though being a relatively small town, has many cultural events on small and somewhat larger scales. One memorable event, of the many, is "Rompepäivät", which translates as "the days of old junk and stuff". People gather together bringing all kinds of old stuff imaginable, from small sewing needles to old tractors, for everyone to see and a lot of small things to be sold. Small numbers of old restored cars, trucks, motorcycles and tractors, some of them Finnish made, are displayed for others to see. Here people talk about "good old times" or wonder over "ancient artifacts". Sometimes some of the finely restored machines are for sale to anyone interested to buy—of course if they can afford it. "Oluset" is a music festival organized each July annually. The main sponsor is local brewery company Olvi. "Oluset" roughly translates to "a few beers". Also a smaller festival, "Limuset" Little soft drink festival" is organize as well by Olvi. "Limuset" is mainly dedicated to kids and young people, and no alcoholic drinks are sold in the area.
Iisalmi is best known for its football club, PK-37 and ice hockey club, IPK (Iisalmen Peli-Karhut). Other known sports clubs are FBI (floorball club), Iisalmen palloveikot, Klubi-36, Iina, Iisalmen Visa and Koljonvirran ratsastajat (riding club). Iisalmi has many good alternativities for sports. There is a very nice frisbee golf place near the Paloisvuori ski center. There are also many good beaches in Iisalmi, for example Perttu's beach and Beach of City. Many beaches offer an opportunity for beach volley too. In winter time Iisalmi offers good ski trails, skating rinks and also opportunity for downhill skiing and snowboarding in the Paloisvuori ski center. In addition Iisalmi has good facilities for gym workout, swimming, bowling and minigolf.
