STRONG MUNICIPAL INVOLVEMENT
Thanks to the reflection carried out around the development of the Local Urban Plan, the city wishes to define new areas to be urbanized, close to the city center in order to capture a population of first-time buyers and thus promote purchasing power.
The municipality is also working on several major axes in order to promote a balance between the economic activity of the periphery and that of the city center.
- Capture both the public and new customers in the city center. The city has already undertaken significant changes in this direction: new directions of movement, an intelligent parking policy which is already bearing fruit, as well as numerous urban developments which highlight the city's assets (example: the platforms, the rehabilitation of the Bodin company) and offer a more modern and welcoming look to the city center.
- Create complementarity through joint projects. The aim of this merger is to avoid competition with the outskirts of Bordeaux.
- Encourage the tourist craze that fuels economic development. Several projects are being considered to embark on this path: a pontoon to attract cruise passengers, a camper van area, creation of a campsite and a Country café.

Church of Saint-Gervais-Saint-Protais in Langon
The church is located in the northern districts of the city, between rue Saint-Gervais and the banks of the Garonne.
Based on a simple nave and a flat 13th century chevet, the building evolved until the end of the 15th century. Partially destroyed in 1576 by the Huguenots (at the end of what was the fifth religious war) then in 1652 during the Fronde, it was rebuilt and enlarged in the middle of the 19th century. The bell tower is, with a few details, almost a reproduction of the South tower of Chartres cathedral, on a reduced scale, which gives the monument a slender and majestic silhouette. The building is listed as historical monuments by decree of September 21, 2006 in full.
3.Remains of Notre-Dame church
12th century church, altered many times, which underwent significant destruction before becoming a national property during the Revolution and being transformed into a meeting place, shows and then a cinema. In 1926, the owner decided to sell most of the capitals to a wealthy American collector, who in 1934 donated to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. The chapel was rebuilt and exhibited at the Museum of the Cloisters in New York.
4.THE CHURCH OF ST GERVAIS
The church was destroyed and then rebuilt in the 12th century, in the Gothic style.
Reconstruction was interrupted, then resumed in the 14th and 15th centuries with the transept and the choir, until the 19th century when construction of the 3 naves and the bell tower was completed.
In 1966, a painting by Zurbaran, titled the "Immaculate Conception" was discovered which can be seen on the left as you enter.
The St Gervais church also has an organ by the factor Cavaillé-Coll dating from 1857, which admirably follows the shapes of the rose window.

VI.History
The history of the city is inseparable from that of Bazas, about fifteen kilometers to the south, an important military and religious center from Antiquity until the eighteenth century, of which Langon is the port on the Garonne, competing for a time with that from Bordeaux. Taking advantage of its privileged location around a bend in the river, at the confluence with the Brion, Langon becomes a market town, on the road between Bordeaux and Agen. It has two parishes from the twelfth century, Notre-Dame and Saint-Gervais, forming two towns of which the city is the reunion. For more information on the situation of the commune in the 18th century, see the work by Jacques Baurein.
During the Revolution, the parish of Saint-Gervais de Langon formed the commune of Langon.
Langon was marked by the vine, which made its wealth as a port, at the crossroads of the Graves vineyard and that of Sauternes. The town itself is on the territory of Graves. While Bazas entered a relative decline from the eighteenth century, losing its diocese after the Revolution, its tribunal de grande instance in the twentieth century, and a good part of its crafts, Langon experienced a commercial and industrial boom. In 1926, the districts of Bazas and La Réole merged with that of Langon, and it was Langon, slightly more populatedNote 1, which took over the sub-prefecture.
Culturally, Langon is located in the Gascon area. The name of the city in Occitan is Lengon (pronounced Lengoun). It is part of the historic region of Bazadais..
