The Saint-Symphorien church is of Romanesque origin: its choir and its cul-de-four apse bear witness to this. The nave and part of the aisle were built in the 13th century. The baptismal font and the part of the building which surmounts them belong to the 18th century. In 1880, the nave was raised to receive a new framework. The western facade is remarkable with its Romanesque portal.

The altar tabernacle with its statuettes and the altarpiece altarpiece of the Virgin are classified Historical Monuments (1970).

VI.History

Our town is part of the district of BLAYE and the canton of SAINT-ANDRE DE CUBZAC. It covers an area of 530 hectares. Censuses take place every five years, the last taking place in 2010.

The INSEE then transmits the legal population in force on January 1 every year. In 2013 Gauriaguet has a municipal population of 1166 "Gauriaguétains and Gauriaguétaines". Our village is crossed by a small stream: the Virvée.

The church of St Symphorien (12th, 13th and 18th century) is one of the two heritages of the town.

The heart, the apse, the presbytery, the baptismal font and the stained glass windows are remarkable.

A particularity in the Virgin and Child: Jesus looks at his mother and not the assembly.

We find traces of the parish of the church from the 12th century.

The village enjoyed a certain fame from the 16th century, thanks to the legend of the Virgin of Meslier. From the 18th century, the development of viticulture and its exploitation constitute the main resources of the town.

The virgin of Meslier (16th and 18th century) in polychrome wood is the second heritage. The field where it is located became a place of pilgrimage where the faithful came on August 22, the day of Saint Symphorien, until after the Revolution. Procession brought up to date in 2007.

Located near BORDEAUX, our village took off in the 20th century thanks to the installation of new road infrastructures.

 MUSIC-HALL "THE BLUE ANGEL"

 5.png

Since its opening in 1997, L'Ange Bleu has been offering a unique concept of lively and danceable meals followed by a big-screen revue, and in 2008, with the opening of its second hall with 1,200 seats, becomes the largest cabaret space in France.

Since September 2016, the magazine Eternity is presented, the opportunity for 100,000 annual spectators to discover a completely redesigned machinery for special effects unreleased in a cabaret magazine, not to mention all the charm of the ballet of the Ange Bleu.

Gironde: in Gauriaguet, the "L’Ange Bleu" cabaret is a millionaire

The Gironde cabaret L’Ange Bleu presented its new “Hollywood” review on Saturday.

A million spectators! A figure that makes you dizzy and illustrates, if necessary, the incredible success story of the L’Ange bleu cabaret. On Saturday night, during the performance of the new show called "Hollywood", an anonymous spectator learned that he was exactly that millionth spectator. To celebrate the event, the management gave him to his surprise a jeroboam of champagne and a Methuselah of wine. They are like that at the L’Ange Bleu cabaret, they take care of their customers, who return on average once every three years to spend a glittery evening in the Cuban countryside.

Launched in 1997, L’Ange Bleu is now the largest cabaret in France with a 1,200-seat hall, and another of 400, for 100,000 annual spectators. Planted on the edge of the national 10 in Gauriaguet, on the road to Angoulême, it attracts an audience from all over the South West, and further afield. Elderly clubs that arrive by full busses have made the establishment's fortunes, but the public has tended to change in recent years. "Seniors are getting younger," comments Alexandre Duvollet, manager of Ange Bleu with his brother. Because Gauriaguet's music hall is above all a family affair. A beautiful story born from a crazy bet.

" I'm a crazy person "

The year was 1967, L’Ange bleu, it was Le Girondin, a hotel-restaurant bar founded by Alexandre's grandfather. It’s the heyday of paid vacation, and taking the National 10 is already vacation. “In the middle of summer, we served 1,000 breakfasts in the morning,” remembers Alain Duvollet, Alexandre's father, who took over the restaurant in the 1970s. Life is good on the N10, Le Girondin is a recognized table with a capacity of 200 place settings.

Then the Paris motorway was built in parallel, and in 1996, it was the coup de grace: the national road passed in two times two voices and access to the restaurant was blocked by guardrails. “Overnight, activity fell by 90%,” says Alexandre Duvollet.

It was a shock, his father fell seriously ill, but the idea germinated in him to open a performance hall. In 1997, he then took his two sons, who left college, on an adventure, and opened L’Ange Bleu. "I'm crazy, but my two sons look like me", jokes Alain. The hall initially holds 200 seats, then quickly doubles its capacity.

The family of restaurateurs who know nothing about the entertainment world appealed to an artistic director, Pathy Bad, who is still in charge of the new magazine today. “We didn't want a two-hour feather parade. We wanted something else. Comedy, music hall, a cabaret theater show that tells a story. "

While the public is entitled to a real dinner concocted from fresh produce on the plate, neither are they deceived by the show they see on stage. "There is no play-back," says Alexandre Duvollet. Details that ensure the reputation of the place. Word of mouth does the rest.

New dimension

In 2008, The Blue Angel changed dimension. A 1200-seat room is built. For this new bet, the Duvollet family had no problem convincing the banks. "They were the ones who fought," recalls Alain, for whom it had not been the same story ten years earlier.

The kitchen is then 400 m², with the same chef as fifteen years ago, during the time of the restaurant Le Girondin. A new show every two years, huge sets, about twenty artists on stage, the reputation of L'Ange bleu goes far beyond the borders of France and in 2010, the troupe is invited to China for a tour of six months! The small restaurant on the national 10 is far away. The Blue Angel's shows are now in the casinos of Macau.

For the new review, which premiered last night, 90% of the music and songs are original compositions. With of course the essential French cancan, without whom a music hall evening would be like a party without champagne. On stage, there is now a high definition led screen of 70 m² to animate the paintings of the new review.

With "Hollywood" the viewer is drawn into the making of a film from the heyday of westerns. And the Chinese have once again shown their interest in Gauriaguet's review.
