Vallensbæk Church
Vallensbæk's most notable church is Vallensbæk Church which dates from the second half of the 12th century. It then consisted of a Romanesque chancel and nave, built in chalk ashlar. The west end of the ship consists of another masonry that has been added so that the nave was extended westward.

But in 1864, a number of murals were discovered in the church. At the time, the murals were considered crude and barbaric, but their culture-historical value was appreciated. The workshop or master painter was called the Vallensbæk Master but as more of his works gradually turned up, the artist was renamed the Isefiord Workshop. The workshop decorated a wide range of churches on Zealand at the end of the 15th century and is considered the largest medieval mural workshop.

Green city life in central location
Vallensbæk is a green city with architecture and urban spaces of high aesthetic quality, close to the possibilities of the big city. It gives the inhabitants closeness and community combined with high ceilings and views.
Vallensbæk must continue to develop the green and blue and maintain it as a natural part of everyday life in the city. Well-kept urban spaces, exciting coastal areas and green spaces are ready for use. They must invite diversity and experiences as well as be aesthetic and sustainable for the benefit of both citizens and businesses. In the development of new urban spaces, the city focusd on getting nature in between the homes, so that nature does not simply surround them. The urban spaces and the green areas must not only be transit areas, but also offer art and exercise experiences and contribute to the higher life satisfaction of the citizens. It is about high quality in all the conditions that affect the good, sustainable and safe life of the citizens.
Due to the central location close to Copenhagen, it have a built-in openness to the outside world. It gains vision, diversity and good accessibility to the world around the citizens. The municipality must take advantage of that. It have a unique opportunity to combine green city life with big city opportunities. We must strengthen our profile as a housing municipality, where we can attract both citizens with jobs and companies and workplaces, and offer good conditions for business.
The infrastructure is important for the municipality, but it also means that the citizens of Vallensbæk are bothered by noise from two major motorways and an upcoming Ringstedbane with freight and high-speed trains. We must work on that challenge and we must insist that the state take responsibility for their infrastructure. We must focus on reducing noise in collaboration with other authorities across local, regional and state infrastructure. Locally, we work closely with Gate 21 on a “Living Lab” where manufacturers can test their latest technology to reduce noise levels in the municipality. At the same time, we must actively follow developments when we place new residential areas so that we can create good urban spaces that are shielded from the noise, and we must actively utilize the technology in the work with noise.
As a result of the recent municipal reform, Vallensbæk collaborates with the neighboring municipality of Ishøj in these five areas: employment, nature and the environment, the social area, special education and rehabilitation. It is Vallensbæk Municipality that is responsible for the employment efforts in both municipalities, while Ishøj takes care of the other four.
