Nature
In the Municipality of Ringsted, there are about 170 km of public watercourses in approx. 40 streams. There are also an unknown number of private streams. Trenches and sinks are also referred to as streams.
The law divides the streams into public and private streams, and the municipality is the authority for all streams. The rules are in the Watercourse Act and specify, among other things, the duties and rights that both the owners of the river and the municipality have.
It may vary as to the individual streams. Therefore, it is always a good idea to review the watercourse regulations for answers directed at a particular public watercourse.
Ringsted Municipality has lots of green areas and areas. They count everything from lawns and a city park to more natural areas - and there is plenty of opportunity to use them for different purposes.
North of Ringsted lies Haraldsted Lake or Langesø, as it is also called. As the name implies, a narrow, elongated lake. The first part of the Adventure Trail goes from Vrangeskov to Roskildevej and follows the lake's banks.
The western end was shaped many years ago by a dam. This smaller part of the lake is called Haraldsted Lillesø, or in the popular "Lake Tivoli". The beach in this lake has met the criteria for the Blue Flag campaign for the past 25 years, and thus the blue flag also weighs at Haraldsted in 2020. You can see below the criteria that must be met for the Blue Flag to be awarded to the municipality. The Blue Flag season kicks off on June 1st and ends on Haraldsted Lake on August 31st. During this period, continuous bathing water analyzes as well as monitoring of the area and algae occurrence in the bathing water are performed.
There are also baths in Hvidsø by Jystrup, in Haraldsted Langesø, and in the eastern part of Gyrstinge Lake. In these lakes, continuous bathing water analyzes are also carried out and information is provided via the on-site information box about the area. These lakes are not Blue Flag beaches and thus do not have the same level of supervision at the bathing area.
