Holstebro Municipality is a municipality (Danish, kommune) in Region Midtjylland on the Jutland peninsula in west Denmark. The main town and the site of its municipal council is the town of Holstebro, which is bisected by the Storåen ("The Large Creek"). The town arose at a ford by the creek, and later a bridge was erected.  Holstebro Church

Address: Kirkepladsen 2, 7500 Holstebro

There has been a church on this site since the early Middle Ages. In 1440, a spacious stone church was built which was the church of the town of Holstebro undtil 1905. It was then decided to demolish the old church to make room for a larger one, which was inaugurated in 1907.

Some of the inventory from the old church was reused in the new one, among which the rare and impressive Dutch Mary altarpiece from the beginning of the 15th century.

There are also several new items, such as "The Tree of Light" where people coming to the prayers can light a candle. Arne Haugen Sørensen's "The Trials of Abraham", and a crucifix by Niels Helledie.

The church has a Frobenius Organ from 1957/1982 of 45 stops and a carillon with 48 bells.

In the pavement east of the church's cross-arm, the "Old Church" memorial plaque marks the place where the medieval altar stood. The plate is of Swedish granite and made by Erik Heide in 2007.

六、历史文化

Holstebro is one of the country's oldest shopping towns. It was mentioned by name for the first time in 1274 in a letter from Bishop Thyge of Ribe.

For the first time, the town name appears as Hvolstathbroo. Some interpret it as the "horse bridge" - an allusion to the big horse markets in the city. Others believe that the name derives from the fact that the town is built "by the bridge that crosses the river".

On January 1, 2007 Holstebro municipality was, due to Kommunalreformen ("The Municipal Reform" of 2007), merged with existing Ulfborg-Vemb and Vinderup municipalities to form the new Holstebro municipality.

Holstebro was first mentioned in a letter from Bishop Thyge of Ribe in 1274. A large fire in 1552 destroyed many of the town's old buildings.

This area has a varied shopping environment, enhanced by outdoor sculptures and picturesque buildings, including the town church and the Town Hall. The first sculpture purchased by Holstebro Municipality was Alberto Giacometti's sculpture "Woman on the Cart" purchased in 1966.

In the middle of the 20th century, Holstebro was a peripheral area, defined by the following statements:

that young people moved from the area to educate and did not return later, why they were missed in business

that the area had disproportionately many elderly, unskilled and unemployed

that the companies had difficulty attracting key employees

that the area had difficulty attracting new businesses and jobs

To change that situation, the then City Council in the mid-1960s chose to focus on an art and cultural development that would prove to be the sustainable "Cultural Model Holstebro".

Mayor Kaj K. Nielsen promised himself that if he ever had the opportunity to have a controlling influence on it, "art and culture should go out to the people".

Now things started to take off. In 1965, the municipality hired art historian Poul Vad to formulate an idea base for the Holstebro Art Museum. The Holstebro Hall was built, which became the place where all kinds of entertainment now for almost 50 years has pleased 80,000-100,000 visitors a year.

World artist Alberto Giacometti's sculpture "Woman on Love" - popularly known as "Maren o æ woun" - was purchased and presented on March 10, 1966. The same year the Odin Theater settled in Holstebro.

Today Holstebro has a rich and varied cultural life. Between 1997 and 2009 it hosted the internationally recognized ballet company Peter Schaufuss Ballet and the town still hosts the performance art theatre Odin Teatret. Several museums, including the Holstebro Art Museum with its collection of Danish and international contemporary art, and the Holstebro Museum can be found in the town.

The town holds an annual culture festival, the Holstebro Festive Week, in late summer. The Holstebro Hall houses a music theatre, the Holstebro Convention and Culture Center (1991) and provides space for theatre presentations, concerts, exhibitions and conventions. More than 100 cultural events occur here every year, and the hall is visited by more than 100,000 people annually.
